Each lock is marked with a R.A.T. games identifier to ID it as being in play.   

Locate a lock, pick it open  in location and win. The locks have varying levels of commitment to locate and difficulty to pick. The prizes levels also varies.

None of the locks are in areas that are hard to access and this game never involves trespassing. 

Some simple rules that will most likely get more complicated as this games evolves

You must film yourself picking the lock in its original location with SPARROWS tools. This prevents any vandalism of what the lock may be attached to. You can only remove the lock by picking it open. To be CLEAR if the lock is attached to a fence you must film yourself picking the lock successfully off the fence it is locked to. You CAN NOT remove the lock from the fence by cutting the fence to then pick it open at another time or place. This insures the game is played in field.

Once successfully picked open you can take the lock with you. INSIDE each lock is a code that has been engraved on the core. Take the lock apart and email us that code along with your in field video of you picking it open. SPARROWS will verify that the rules were followed and send you the prize.

Summary:

1.            RAT Games is a skill-based contest sponsored by Sparrows (“Sponsor”) in which participants follow clues published by Sparrows to locate official RAT Games locks placed in lawful, publicly accessible locations. Eligible participants may attempt to open an official RAT Games lock using lawful, non-destructive lockpicking techniques and may submit the internal code to Sponsor for prize verification. The winners are the first eligible participant who lawfully and non-destructively opens each separate official RAT Games lock and submits the corresponding internal code through the official submission channel. RAT Games does not authorize trespass, forced entry, unsafe access, unlawful tool use, or interaction with any lock not clearly identified as an official RAT Games lock.

Agreement by Participation

2.            A person is eligible to participate in the RAT Games if they agree to be bound by these Official Rules. A person who does not agree may not participate in the RAT Games; does not have permission to open, lockpick, or bypass any RAT Games lock; and is not eligible to receive any prize.

3.            Participation includes viewing or using clues, searching for a RAT Games lock, traveling to a possible lock location, attempting to locate or open a RAT Games lock, submitting a code, claiming a prize, accepting a prize, or otherwise engaging with RAT Games.

4.            Sponsor may deny participation, reject a code submission, deny a prize claim, disqualify a participant, or ban a participant if Sponsor determines, in its sole discretion, the participant has violated these Official Rules or broken the laws of the jurisdiction where the RAT Games are conducted.

Gameplay Rules

5.            RAT Games is a skill-based contest requiring observation, judgment, lawful access, lawful travel, lawful tool use, lawful lockpicking, and compliance with these Official Rules. No prize is awarded by chance or random drawing, and no purchase is necessary to participate in RAT Games.

6.            No purchase is necessary to participate in RAT Games or win a prize. A purchase will not improve a participant’s chances of winning. Sponsor will make RAT Games clues available through official social media @sparrowslockpicks on Instagram and Youtube

7.            Sponsor will place or authorize placement of official RAT Games locks only in lawful, publicly accessible, and walkable locations. Each official RAT Games lock is marked with the words “SPARROWS” and “RAT GAMES.” Each official RAT Games lock is free hanging and is not used to secure any property, door, gate, or entrance.

8.            Access to all official RAT Games locks will not require breaking and entering, forced entry, trespass, climbing, digging, crossing barriers, entering restricted areas, entering unsafe areas, or subjecting oneself or others to danger. If a participant believes an official RAT Games lock cannot be reached safely, lawfully, and on foot through a publicly accessible route, the participant must not attempt to reach, access, handle, pick, bypass, or open the lock and must contact Sponsor.

9.            Participants may attempt to open only official RAT Games locks using lawful, non-destructive lockpicking techniques. Participants must not pick, bypass, manipulate, damage, tamper with, test, open, attempt to open, or interfere with any non-RAT Games lock.

10.         Official RAT Games locks will never include locks on homes, apartments, garages, sheds, lockers, gates, fences, vehicles, bicycles, safes, cabinets, containers, mailboxes, storage units, utility boxes, equipment, vending machines, display cases, access panels, doors, windows, enclosures, commercial premises, or any lock not clearly identified as part of RAT Games. If a participant is uncertain whether a lock is an official RAT Games lock, the participant must leave the area and contact Sponsor.

11.         After opening an official RAT Games lock, a participant may submit the internally contained code to claim the applicable prize for that lock. The participant must submit the code and any supporting information requested by Sponsor through the official submission method identified by Sponsor, which may include info@sparrowslockpicks.com. Sponsor may require the participant to provide the code, lock location, date and time of opening, participant contact information, photographs or videos documenting successful opening, and any other information reasonably needed to verify eligibility, successful completion, and compliance with these Official Rules. A participant is eligible to receive the prize only if Sponsor determines the participant was the first eligible participant to open the particular official RAT Games lock and submit a valid code in compliance with these Official Rules.

12.         A prize for a particular official RAT Games lock may be awarded, subject to Sponsor verification and Sponsor discretion, to the first eligible participant who lawfully and non-destructively opens the specific official RAT Games lock and submits the valid internally contained code through the official submission method in compliance with these Official Rules. Completion of an official RAT Games lock opening does not guarantee a prize.

Eligibility, Legal Compliance, Safety, and Prohibited Conduct

13.         Participation is open only to individuals who are at least eighteen years old or the age of majority where the individual participates, whichever age is greater. Each participant must have legal capacity to agree to these Official Rules.

14.         Each participant is solely responsible for knowing and complying with all laws applicable to the participant, the participant’s tools, and the participant’s participation. RAT Games is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Sponsor does not make any representation concerning whether any participant may lawfully possess, carry, transport, display, use, lend, transfer, sell, or demonstrate lockpicking tools, bypass tools, or related equipment in any jurisdiction.

15.         Participants may only access lawful, publicly accessible, and walkable locations. Participants may only pick official RAT Games locks. Participants may not trespass, enter private or restricted areas, bypass security, climb, cross barriers, force entry, damage property, obstruct public access, interfere with any person, tamper with RAT Games materials, create fake clues or codes, misuse codes, interfere with Sponsor systems, or pick, bypass, manipulate, damage, or open any lock that is not an official RAT Games lock.

16.         Participants must stop immediately if continued participation in the RAT Games would violate any law, posted notice, property rule, safety condition, or instruction from law enforcement, security, a property owner, or emergency personnel.

Participant Acts Alone

17.         Any participant who engages in unauthorized access, trespass, tampering, unlawful lockpicking, unlawful bypass activity, property damage, unsafe conduct, suspicious conduct, or violation of these Official Rules acts solely on the participant’s own behalf and not on behalf of Sponsor.

18.         No participant has authority to act for Sponsor, bind Sponsor, speak for Sponsor, represent Sponsor, give permission on behalf of Sponsor, grant access on behalf of Sponsor, or communicate with authorities on behalf of Sponsor. Participation does not create any employment, agency, partnership, joint venture, representative, contractor, volunteer, fiduciary, or similar relationship between a participant and Sponsor.

Prize Claims and Sponsor Decisions

19.         To claim a prize, a participant must submit the required code and any supporting information requested by the Sponsor through the method specified by Sponsor. Sponsor does not direct, authorize, ratify, or accept responsibility for any unlawful, unauthorized, or unsafe act by any participant. Sponsor may require identity verification, age verification, eligibility proof, lawful participation proof, proof of code discovery, photo evidence, video evidence, a description of the method used to locate and open the lock, tax documentation, publicity release, prize acknowledgment, or other information Sponsor requests.

20.         The first eligible participant who non-destructively opens an official RAT Games lock and submits the code contained within the official RAT Games Lock may be eligible to receive the associated prize, subject to Sponsor verification. Sponsor may consider timestamps, server records, email records, platform records, metadata, photographs, videos, witness statements, and other evidence in determining the first valid submission.

21.         Sponsor may deny, split, substitute, cancel, withhold, or award any prize in Sponsor’s sole discretion if Sponsor determines a submission is late, incomplete, unverifiable, ineligible, unlawful, unsafe, unauthorized, destructive, dishonest, unfair, compromised, inconsistent with these Official Rules, or otherwise inconsistent with Sponsor’s interests.

22.         Participation does not guarantee a prize. Locating a lock, opening a lock, submitting a code, or being first in time does not guarantee a prize unless Sponsor verifies eligibility, compliance, and a valid submission. Each prize winner is solely responsible for all taxes, fees, reporting obligations, and legal obligations arising from prize receipt, acceptance, ownership, transfer, or use. A prize may not be transferred, assigned, exchanged, or redeemed for cash unless Sponsor expressly allows otherwise in writing.

Assumption of Risk, Release, and Indemnity

23.         Each participant voluntarily assumes the entire risk of participation in RAT Games, including all known and unknown risks arising from travel, outdoor conditions, public spaces, tool use, lockpicking activity, other participants, public conduct, law enforcement interactions, property owner interactions, public authority interactions, contest administration, unsuccessful prize claims, disqualification, cancellation, suspension, relocation, removal, or modification of any challenge.

24.         Assumed risks include personal injury, death, illness, property damage, property loss, theft, arrest, citation, detention, investigation, questioning, prosecution, civil claims, tool damage, tool confiscation, travel costs, legal costs, medical costs, lost opportunity, lost prize, emotional distress, and inconvenience.

25.         “Released Parties” means Sponsor, its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, successors, assigns, owners, officers, directors, managers, members, employees, contractors, consultants, volunteers, agents, representatives, sponsors, advertisers, promotional partners, prize suppliers, insurers, attorneys, property owners, licensees, licensors, and persons or entities involved in creating, administering, promoting, placing, maintaining, relocating, removing, or verifying RAT Games locks, clues, codes, locations, submissions, or prizes.

26.         To the fullest extent permitted by law, each participant releases, waives, and forever discharges the Released Parties from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, actions, causes of action, damages, losses, costs, expenses, and rights of recovery arising from or relating to RAT Games, including claims based on personal injury, death, property damage, property loss, trespass, arrest, citation, investigation, prosecution, civil claims, travel, tool use, lock interaction, reliance on clues or communications, prize issues, participant conduct, public conduct, other participant conduct, and cancellation, suspension, relocation, removal, or modification of  the RAT Games. Each participant also voluntarily assumes all risks arising from the participant’s own decisions and actions outside the scope of authorized RAT Games activity, including any unlawful, unauthorized, reckless, or unsafe conduct.

27.         The release applies even if a claim is alleged to arise in whole or in part from negligence by a Released Party, to the fullest extent permitted by law. No participant may avoid the release by characterizing a claim as negligent placement, negligent warning, negligent supervision, negligent administration, or negligent communication.

28.         Each participant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, fines, penalties, costs, expenses, and attorney fees arising from or relating to the participant’s participation in RAT Games, breach of these Official Rules, violation of law, trespass, unauthorized access, lockpicking, bypass activity, tool possession, tool use, property damage, personal injury, false submission, prize use, or misuse of any prize. Sponsor may assume exclusive control of any defense at the participant’s expense, and the participant must cooperate with Sponsor. This indemnity includes claims by third parties, property owners, governmental authorities, or other participants arising from the participant’s misuse of RAT Games content, clues, locks, codes, locations, or materials.

Termination, Suspension, Relocation, Modification, and Cancellation

29.         Sponsor may modify, suspend, relocate, remove, cancel, discontinue, or terminate RAT Games, any challenge, clue, lock, location, code, submission period, prize, or prize claim process at any time, with or without notice.

30.         Sponsor may take such action if any person, property, natural resource, public space, lock, clue, code, submission process, communication channel, legal interest, operational interest, or Sponsor reputation is threatened, compromised, unsafe, unsuitable, unlawful, impractical, or inconsistent with Sponsor’s interests. Sponsor may also take such action if cheating, fraud, tampering, hacking, collusion, or manipulation occurs or is suspected, or if law enforcement, a property owner, a governmental authority, or another person in apparent authority requests such action.

31.         Sponsor is not liable for any cancellation, suspension, relocation, removal, modification, discontinuance, or termination. A participant is not entitled to reimbursement, damages, substitute prize, or other compensation due to any such action.

Publicity, Intellectual Property, and Privacy

32.         Except where prohibited by law, by participating in RAT Games, submitting a code, claiming a prize, or accepting a prize, each participant grants Sponsor the irrevocable, worldwide, royalty free right to use, reproduce, publish, display, distribute, edit, crop, adapt, and create derivative works from any photographs, videos, statements, or other materials submitted by the participant as proof or documentation of successfully locating, opening, or completing an official RAT Games lock. The Sponsor may use such materials for administration, winner verification, advertising, marketing, promotion, social media, website, archival, and related business purposes.

33.         RAT Games, Sparrows, the Sparrows logo, the RAT Games name, Sponsor marks, clues, codes, lock identifiers, contest formats, game mechanics, written materials, images, videos, maps, posts, promotional materials, patents, trademarks, and related intellectual property are owned or controlled by Sponsor or its licensors. Participation grants only a limited, revocable, nonexclusive permission to use official RAT Games clues and materials solely for lawful participation in RAT Games and does not create any authorship, inventorship, ownership, contribution, license, or other right for any participant.

34.         Participants must not copy, sell, license, create derivative works from, reverse engineer, scrape, exploit, commercially use, or attempt to register rights confusingly similar to Sponsor marks, RAT Games materials, or Sponsor intellectual property. Sponsor may collect, use, and share participant information for contest administration, advertisement eligibility verification, prize fulfillment, fraud prevention, legal compliance, safety response, publicity, communications, enforcement, and related purposes.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Damages

35.         RAT Games, clues, locks, codes, websites, communications, locations, posts, materials, and prizes are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sponsor disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non infringement, accuracy, availability, safety, reliability, and legality.

36.         Sponsor does not warrant RAT Games will be uninterrupted, error free, safe, lawful in every jurisdiction, available at any particular time, or free from unauthorized interference. Sponsor does not warrant any location, clue, lock, code, post, communication, website, submission form, or prize will remain unchanged or available.

37.         To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Released Parties will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages, lost profits, lost opportunities, lost data, lost goodwill, reputational harm, travel costs, tool costs, legal costs, medical costs, or other damages arising from or relating to RAT Games, regardless of legal theory.

Changes to Official Rules

38.         Sponsor may amend, supplement, replace, modify, suspend, or terminate these Official Rules, any challenge specific rules, any clue, any lock location, any code submission process, any prize, or any prize claim procedure at any time, with or without notice, in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor may post updated Official Rules on Sponsor’s website, social media, submission portal, or other official channel. Sponsor is not required to send individual notice of any change to any participant, including any person who submitted a code, claimed a prize, created an account, followed a Sponsor account, joined a mailing list, or otherwise communicated with Sponsor.

39.         Sponsor may maintain and provide a changelog identifying material changes to these Official Rules. Continued participation after updated Official Rules are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Official Rules. No participant is entitled to reimbursement, damages, a substitute prize, or other compensation due to any amendment, supplement, replacement, modification, suspension, or termination, except as required by applicable law.

Governing Law, Dispute Resolution, and General Terms

40.         These Official Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to conflict of law rules. Except where prohibited by law, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from or relating to RAT Games, these Official Rules, participation in RAT Games, any prize claim, or any interaction with Sponsor shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its applicable consumer arbitration rules. By participating in the RAT Games, the participant waives any right to legal recourse against the Sponsor for injuries incurred during the RAT Games except through binding arbitration.

41.         The arbitration shall take place in Delaware, United States of America, unless Sponsor agrees to another location or applicable law requires another location. The arbitrator shall have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute regarding arbitrability, enforceability, interpretation, or application of the arbitration provision. The arbitrator may award any relief available in court, subject to the limitations, releases, waivers, and disclaimers in these Official Rules.

42.         If any dispute is not subject to arbitration, the dispute must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless applicable law requires another forum. Each participant consents to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts.

43.         Sponsor is not responsible for any delay, cancellation, suspension, modification, failure, or loss caused by circumstances beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control, including weather, natural disaster, emergency, fire, flood, public health condition, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor dispute, supply issue, technical failure, internet failure, power failure, governmental action, law enforcement action, property owner action, or other events beyond Sponsor’s control.

44.         If any provision of these Official Rules, including the arbitration terms, is held invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. The invalid, illegal, or unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make the provision valid, legal, and enforceable, if permitted by law.

45.         These Official Rules, together with any challenge specific rules announced by Sponsor, form the entire agreement between each participant and Sponsor concerning RAT Games. If challenge specific rules conflict with these Official Rules, Sponsor may determine which rule controls.

46.         Questions, safety reports, suspected misconduct reports, damaged lock reports, missing lock reports, and prize claim questions should be sent to info@sparrowslockpicks.com  Sponsor may respond, decline to respond, or take action in Sponsor’s sole discretion.
