Did you know that the majority of handcuffs are all keyed alike? Well they are and with one key you can unlock the majority of North American handcuffs even from different manufacturers.
Perfect for LEO and Military
Handcuff keys come in several different forms depending on what your operational goal is. From a spare key to one that can be covertly hidden in your clothing. SPARROWS manufactures a wide variety of different handcuff key options for on duty police officers, military community members that may require these for their S.E.R.E kit and for those who travel to unsavory locations.
Handcuffs and Shims
Another method for opening handcuffs is to use handcuff shims. For this attack a thin piece of metal is jammed between the teeth of the bow and the lock. This will depress the locked teeth and allow the bow of the restraint to open. For some handcuffs the ratcheting area and bow have a split with a raised piece of metal. This raised piece of metal blocks regular shims from traveling between the teeth of the bow and lock. To bypass this you need to use a split shim. This is a two prong shim that pushes into the ratcheting area on either side of the blockling plate allowing you to depress the lock and open the restraint. One word of warning with shiming is that the majority of handcuffs have what is called a double lock. When handcuffs are placed on, the key can be placed into the lock to engage the “double lock” this prevents handcuffs from tightening any further but it also prevents them from being easily shimmed open. In the chaotic environment of illegal detention this is often not engaged.
Using any of these tools while being detained by Law Enforcement may result in a face full of pepper spray and additional charges. Keep it Legal and stay Safe.
